Society’s definition of a ‘nerd’

‘Nerd’ or the society usually call a person who is overly intellectual or having an ‘old school’ mentality. Being a genius is truly amazing, so I don't find anything wrong with that and in this entry I would like to express my opinion about society’s perception about a ‘nerd’ who is having an ‘old school’ mentality.

Wearing appropriate cloths, not going out after a certain time (usually night), not smoking and things that are ‘old school’ to the society but they are really not. This perception of society’s really bothering me as a part of the community.

Appropriate cloths. Is it bad wearing appropriate cloths ? Is it not being ‘fashion-trendy’ or people may call it ‘fashionista’ ? No. It is absolutely not wrong. For me, it is definitely tip-top to wear good to look good by wearing appropriate cloths. Do we need to wear inappropriate cloths to look good ? The answer is 100% No. But why do the society always think that it is awful to wear appropriate ? It gives me 1001 questions.

“Look at those nerds. They don’t even go out of their houses after 10 p.m.” I can go out after 10 p.m. and I know the people who can’t. But I don’t make fun the people who don’t. Obviously they have reasons for not going out after a certain time. But does it make them look as losers ? For me, it is a ‘NO’.

Smoking ? A person is terrible just because he doesn’t smoke ? This issue really gives me confusion. It is up to them to be a smoker or be a non-smoker and lives healthily. Be a non-smoker doesn’t mean he’s not ‘up-to-date’ or not following the trend. He just wants to live healthy. I don’t see why it is a bad thing to the society.
