ABOUT ME

Hello there! I’m Syafiq Latif. Full name – Muhammad Syafiq bin Abdul Latif. I was born on June 18, 1996. I’m from Shah Alam, Selangor. I live in two different cities which are Shah Alam and Puncak Alam because my family has two different houses in both cities, but we’re currently living in Shah Alam.

I’m the only child in my family but to be honest, I’m not a spoiled child. Just because I’m the only child in my family, that doesn’t make me a spoiled child. Seriously, no. I went to schools at Shah Alam – Sekolah Rendah Raja Muda (Integ), Section 4 and Sekolah Menengah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Section 2. And now I’m here, at Sultan Idris Education University, taking Diploma in English course and I’m in my Semester 4. One more semester and I’ll be doing my internship.

Football and me. I really love football. My dad first taught me about football when I was 6 and since that day, I’ve been loving this sport. I joined Football Association of Malaysia First Touch Football Academy when I was 10. Few days after playing for the Under-10 team, I got selected to be a player for the Under -12 team when I was just 10 and there were only four 10 years old players in the Under-12 team when the other 10 years old players were still in the Under-10 team. I still remember that day when my team hosted a football tournament which was joined by a number of local clubs and one club from Singapore. And the best thing is, I scored three goals for the final match which ended with 3-0 against this one local club. This is my first team I ever played for. A great team it was.

2 years later, I played for PKNS Football Academy for the Under -12 team. At the end of 2008, PKNS Football Academy hosted a football tournament and we managed to be the second runner up for the Under-12 category.  It was an amazing team. After a few months, I got an offer from Royal Selangor Club Football Academy to be one of their players for the Under-12 team. I didn’t turn down the offer and played for two teams at that time. I also had a good memory with Royal Selangor Club where we managed to be the first runner up for the Under-12 category in the football tournament which was held by Little League Soccer at The Alice Smith School, Kuala Lumpur. We beat so many teams in that tournament and the sweetest memory is that my team beat a Germany football club. My team didn’t have the chance to play against a Brazil team because they didn’t go through the group stage.

Even though I had good memories with Royal Selangor Club Football Academy, I thought that I need to focus on only one team and I chose to be with PKNS Football Academy. I did the right choice when PKNS Football Academy joined a big number of tournament and from there I learned so many things – about football and life. I played for the Under-14 team followed by Under-15 team.  I made my decision with the guidance of my parents to stop playing football at the of 15 to put 100% focus on my studies because I had a big examination in that year. In that year, my team managed to be the second runner up in Manchester United Nike Cup Malaysia and be the champion for Sultan Ahmad Shah Cup. Even though I didn’t have the opportunity to play with them because I chose to stop playing football and focus on my studies, I feel so glad that I could make my parents smile with my excellent result in my PMR.

Now, I’m 20 (2016) and my love in football will never fade. Who knows there will be something for me in the future ?
