Look Around – Shah Alam.

Shah Alam is the state capital of Selangor, Malaysia. It is bordered by the cities of Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya in the east, the district of Kuala Selangor and Selayang in the north, the district of Kuala Langat in the south and the district of Klang in the west. Shah Alam is known as the City of Roundabouts. That’s not for nothing. It has many roundabouts connecting major road to every inches of the state capital.

So, what’s there in Shah Alam ?

‘The Blue Mosque’ or Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah is located in Shah Alam, the state’s capital city. It was built between 1983 and 1987 and it is the biggest mosque in Southeast Asia. Its’ dome and minarets are also the biggest and tallest. The late Sultan of Selangor, of whom the mosque was named after, donated to ‘The Blue Mosque’, as well as gifted four crystal chandeliers and an antique clock. Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah can fit up to 24,000 worshippers at a time.

Next is Shah Alam Stadium. The multi-purpose stadium is located at Section 13. Even though the stadium has many world class facilities, it is mainly used for football. This stadium is the home ground of Selangor FA and is the 17th biggest stadium (80,000 seats) in the world which is, in fact, bigger than Old Trafford, the home ground of Manchester United, England (75,731 seats) and Allianz Arena, the home ground of Bayern Munich, Germany (75,024 seats). Other than sporting facilities, the stadium also has a go-kart racing circuit which is located at the parking lots area. This stadium is recognized worldwide and it is a ‘must-visit’ place for the tourists.

Besides having an outdoor stadium, Shah Alam also has an indoor stadium, Malawati Stadium and it is located just beside Shah Alam Stadium. Malawati Stadium was built around 1992-1996 and was first opened its door in May 12th , 1998. It has 13,000 seats and capable of housing different events including warehouse sales, sports events, concerts, exhibitions and talks.
